These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern all estimates, service calls, and electrical work performed by J Davis Electric LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), a licensed electrical contractor operating in Canal Winchester, Ohio and the surrounding service area, for any residential or commercial customer ("Customer," "you," or "your"). By requesting a quote, scheduling service, signing a work order, or allowing the Company onto your property, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Services
The Company provides licensed electrical contracting services, including but not limited to panel upgrades, lighting installation, generator installation, EV charger installation, tenant improvements, fixture replacement, and related electrical repair and maintenance work ("Services"). The specific scope of work for any project will be described in a written or electronic estimate, invoice, or work order ("Work Order"), which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
2. Estimates, Pricing & Payment
Estimates are based on the information and property access available at the time of inspection. Prices may be adjusted if concealed conditions (e.g., outdated wiring, code violations, inaccessible panels) are discovered once work begins.
Payment is due upon completion of the Services unless otherwise agreed in writing. Accepted payment methods will be provided on the invoice.
Deposits, where required for materials or permitting, are non-refundable once materials have been ordered on the Customer's behalf.
Unpaid balances may accrue late fees and may be referred to collections or result in a mechanic's lien on the property, as permitted under Ohio law.
3. Property & Home Access Authorization
By scheduling Services, the Customer grants the Company and its authorized employees, technicians, and subcontractors permission to:
Enter and access the property, including the home's interior, garage, attic, basement, crawlspace, electrical panel, meter, and exterior areas, as reasonably necessary to perform the Services and any related inspection, diagnosis, permitting, or follow-up work.
Access the property at the scheduled appointment time, or, where the Customer has provided a lockbox code, gate code, garage code, alarm code, or similar access credential, at the agreed arrival window even if the Customer is not present, solely for the purpose of performing the scheduled Services.
Temporarily interrupt electrical service to the property as reasonably required to safely perform the work, with reasonable advance notice to the Customer where practical.
Photograph work areas, panels, and completed work for the Company's records, quality control, permitting, warranty documentation, and (with separate consent) marketing purposes.
The Customer represents that they are the property owner or are authorized by the owner to grant this access. The Customer is responsible for securing pets and disclosing any known hazards (structural, environmental, or otherwise) prior to the Company's arrival. This authorization may be revoked or narrowed at any time by written notice to the Company, effective for future visits.
4. Customer Data Collection & Use
In the course of providing Services, the Company collects and retains certain Customer information, including: name, service address, phone number, email address, payment information, property/electrical system details, appointment history, photos of completed work, and notes from service calls ("Customer Data"). The Company uses Customer Data to:
Schedule, perform, and document Services and honor any applicable warranty;
Send appointment confirmations, technician arrival notices, invoices, and receipts;
Follow up regarding completed work, maintenance reminders, seasonal service recommendations, permit or inspection status, and requests for reviews or referrals;
Improve service quality, internal recordkeeping, and business operations.
The Company does not sell Customer Data to third parties. Customer Data may be shared with subcontractors, suppliers, permitting authorities, or payment processors solely as needed to complete the Services, and may be disclosed if required by law.
5. Consent to Calls, Texts (SMS), and Email
By providing a phone number and/or email address to the Company — whether by phone, in person, through a website form, or on a Work Order — the Customer expressly consents to be contacted by J Davis Electric LLC, and its scheduling or dispatch platforms acting on its behalf, at that phone number and email address for purposes including:
Appointment confirmations, scheduling changes, and "technician on the way" notifications;
Service follow-ups, satisfaction check-ins, and review requests;
Estimate, invoice, and payment communications;
Future service reminders, seasonal promotions, and related marketing offers.
This consent includes contact by live call, prerecorded or autodialed call, and SMS/text message. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency will vary. Consent to receive marketing calls or texts is not a condition of purchasing any Services. Consent to informational/transactional messages (e.g., appointment and invoice notices) is expected as part of scheduling service and is separate from marketing consent.
You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying "STOP" to any text, and opt out of marketing calls or emails by notifying the Company directly at the phone number or email below. Opting out of marketing communications will not affect the Company's ability to send necessary service-related and transactional communications about scheduled or completed work.
See our separate Privacy Policy for additional detail on how Customer Data is stored, secured, and retained.
6. Warranty
Workmanship is warranted for a period of one (1) year from the date of completion, unless a longer or shorter period is stated in writing on the Work Order. This warranty covers defects in the Company's labor and does not cover manufacturer defects (which are subject to the manufacturer's own warranty), damage caused by misuse, unrelated electrical work performed by others, acts of nature, or normal wear and tear.
7. Licensing & Compliance
J Davis Electric LLC performs work in accordance with applicable Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board (OCILB) requirements and local electrical codes. Permits are pulled where required by the applicable jurisdiction; permit fees, unless otherwise stated, are the Customer's responsibility and will be itemized on the Work Order.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by Ohio law, the Company's total liability for any claim arising from the Services is limited to the amount paid by the Customer for the specific Services giving rise to the claim. The Company is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including damage resulting from pre-existing conditions not disclosed prior to the start of work.
9. Cancellations & Rescheduling
The Customer may cancel or reschedule an appointment by contacting the Company at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a trip/dispatch fee, disclosed at the time of scheduling.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms will be resolved in the courts of the county in which the Services were performed.
11. Changes to These Terms
The Company may update these Terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time Services are scheduled will govern that engagement.
12. Contact & Consent Acknowledgment
Questions about these Terms, or requests to access, correct, or delete Customer Data, or to opt out of communications, can be directed to J Davis Electric LLC using the contact information on your Work Order or invoice.
